Overview

This apprenticeship is recognised by the building industry and would enable the individual to work competently on site as a trainee bench joiner.

The apprentice would work alongside an experienced craftsman in addition to attending  The Construction Design Centre 1 day per week where training is provided to enhance the skills learned on site.

The apprentice will work towards qualifications which are recognised by the industry and which will give the apprentice the opportunity to gain a wide range of skills.

Details

All learning done in the workplace with the exception of guided learning sessions 1 day per week at the Construction Design Centre and functional skills which, if required, is done through timetabled sessions also within the centre.

The framework is made up of mandatory and optional units which include;

  • Health and Safety
  • Construction Technology
  • Carpentry and Joinery Power Tools Use Of
  • Understanding Information
  • Set up & Operate Cutting & Shaping Machinery
  • Produce Setting out Details
  • Marking Out Procedure‚Äôs in Joinery
  • Manufacture Routine Joinery Products

How will it be delivered?

The qualification is assessed in two ways;

  • Multiple choice question paper, covering knowledge outcomes.
  • Practical assignment, covering performance outcomes.

Entry requirements

Maths and English grade D/5+ or above
