Further Information about our courses including results
Creativity, perseverance and a love for Art and design, you will be expected to visit galleries and find out as much as you can about Artists crafts people. The students that study Art a level with us find that our A level is their most successful result.
Course Content and Teaching Units
The A level component 1 is based on a theme you will choose to develop a portfolio of work. It is a highly individual and creative project. It includes a written element (1000-3000 words) that your Art tutor will guide you through. The component 2 is an externally set project with a timed element of 15 hours incorporated into it and is a great challenge to your creative and artistic abilities.
National and international gallery visits and Artists working with sixth form students. You will be provided with a wide range of artistic media to experiment with.
Trips, visits and extra-curricular
As part of our course we will take you to London where we will visit the Tate Britain and Tate Modern. We take a Thames trip between the two galleries that will include the houses of parliament the London eye and the MI 5 building. There are other opportunities throughout the year and these have included landscape photography sessions in the peaks, working with artists and being involved in the vibrant life of King Ecgbert School such as Kestival. We run an end of year visit and this changes on a yearly basis. We have visited such places as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Victoria and Albert exhibition of Alexander McQueen and Hull City of Culture.
