A Level Further Mathematics (Edexcel) is a fascinating subject to study. The course deals with developing logic and problem solving skills that can be applied in a wide range of areas. Maths helps to support the study of subjects including physics, chemistry, engineering, IT, economics, business, and biology, amongst many others.

A Level Further Mathematics needs to be studied alongside A Level Mathematics. Students study 4 modules for A Level Further Mathematics; these are Core Pure Mathematics 1, Core Pure Mathematics 2, Further Statistics 1 and Further Mechanics 1. The Pure modules further develop the A Level topics of trigonometry, logarithms and calculus, and introduce many new mathematical ideas such as complex numbers and hyperbolic functions. The Applied modules deal with the more tangible areas of maths, covering Mechanics and Statistics at a higher level.

How will it be delivered?

Each of the 4 modules is tested through a 1 ½ hour written paper in June of Year 13. Specific scientific calculators are required for these exams.
