A-Level Physical Education : AQA The study of how an athlete optimises performance. This includes how physiology imprints elite performance as well as studying psychological and Socio-cultural aspects of sport. Also analysis of performance in competition, identifying weaknesses and suggesting corrective practice to bring about improvement.
Paper 1: Factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport (30% of A Level)
Paper 2: Factors affecting optimal performance in physical activity and sport (35% of A Level)
Practical Performance in physical activity and sport (30% of A Level) with written analysis and evaluation.
The A Level will assess ALL content from both years of the course and will be examined in June of the second year of study. Continuous assessment will be used to inform the students progression in Year 13 and their registration for the A Level exam.
The A Level exam will consist of the following
Written exam - Paper 1
Written exam - Paper 2
Practical performance - Internal assessment, externally modified.
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Physical Education Theory Exam Paper or Grade 5 or above in GCSE Biology if not completed GCSE PE
