Overview

This course will suit you if you wish to gain an insight in to the exciting world of Aviation. For example how the industry works, how an airport operates and why the aviation industry is an important contributor to the UK economy. This course has a broad spectrum covering the wider context of Aviation as a whole and is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in Aviation in general, in roles such as Passenger Service Agents, Transport Security Advisors, Airport Managers or even HMRC Customs & Excise. This course is not specifically designed for air cabin crew.

Please note, students wishing to pursue a career as Cabin Crew need to look at Air Cabin Crew Level 2.

Details

Aviation continues to be a fast growing industry with new and expanding airports developing worldwide. Ground staff and cabin crew play a very important role in the delivery of the customer experience from the initial check-in to disembarkation of the aircraft, in terms of customer service, safety, security and the comfort of passengers and crew. This course is designed to prepare you for a career in aviation.

Within the aviation academy we have exceptional facilities, including an aircraft cabin and check-in facilities that are realistic to the industry for practical work.

Study Visits

A trip to Manchester Airport will be included in your course where you will go from landside to airside observing ramp/apron activities, such as security, cleaning, catering, cargo, re-fuelling and the turnaround of an Emirates A380 Aircraft. 

Key Units What will I learn? 

You will learn about the structure of Aviation and the framework that supports it, such as the Regulatory Bodies, Trade Associations and Ancillary Organisations. 

You will research statistics from the last 10 years, comparing data for airports and airlines analysing growth and cyclical patterns and you will taught to navigate extensive websites, such as the CAA and HSE, extracting the relevant information.

In addition you will develop your customer service and conflict management skills, your geographical knowledge and general knowledge of aviation and airport operations.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths.
