Overview

This course is perfect for you if you would like to be given an introduction to the world of business. It will help you to understand how businesses work, how they affect your life and the role you play as a customer and consumer. You will enjoy this course if you like to learn by completing projects/assignments, sharing ideas and working with others.

Details

You will learn and develop skills and knowledge about different types of careers in the business environment.

Some of the units you will study include:

  • Finding out about business in your area
  • Presenting a business idea
  • Creating a visual display
  • Branding a product
  • Contribute to running an event

The course includes practical work-related activities. You will develop your employability skills including communication skills, team working, time management and the ability to work in an independent and professional way.

In addition to your BTEC qualification you will study for qualifications in English and Maths, key skills wanted by employers.

There may be opportunities to gain real work experience working with real businesses. Some of your assignments will be based on real businesses. Course enrichment activities include visits to local businesses and team building events.

You will learn from experienced, specialised and enthusiastic business teachers with a range of academic and business work backgrounds. You will have access to up-to-date IT facilities and course resources on the college intranet which can be accessed at home.

To be successful on this course you need a positive attitude and a keen interest in the business environment.

How will it be delivered?

You will produce a portfolio of evidence throughout the course and there will be on-going assessment.  




 

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs Grade 2 or above including English Language

Where can it lead?

You can progress to a Level 2 Business course or an appropriate alternative. This course may also lead to employment or an apprenticeship opportunity in the business and administration sector.
