Overview
You will study a range of related subject areas designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the music industry. These include music listening skills, music software, composing and performance using music technology, studio recording, synthesis, sampling, acoustics, live sound engineering, sound design for film and TV, music video production and events management.

Hillsborough College Music has its own record label, which will allow you to develop real world projects such as creating and marketing your own musical product, organising promotional events and establishing an online presence. You may also learn Live Sound and DJ performance techniques.

If you are interested in music production, music events management, studio technology, sound engineering and music performance then this course is for you. You will gain a wide range of practical skills, creative skills and technical knowledge to help you take the next step into the music industry or a place at university.

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English Language plus audition.

Where can it lead?
The high level of satisfaction of students taking this course is reflected in the number who choose to progress with us to our Foundation and BA(Hons.) degree programmes to further their studies. Other university courses are available with different music technology specialisms or employment in the industry or alternatively, employment or self-employment within the music industry.You may progress on to a degree course in higher education, a music school or employment in the industry.
