Overview
If you have a talent and passion for the stage and prefer a hands-on approach to your studies, our BTEC in Performing Arts is for you! Due to the specialist nature of this course, it is only recommended to students who are aiming for a career in the Performing Arts industry. This course is the equivalent of 2 A Levels, but you can team it with a specialism to make it a full time course (equivalent to 3 A Levels). Some experience will be necessary, and a natural affinity for performance is beneficial! Some of the topics you will study if you choose this engaging subject include:
- Group performance
- Individual performance
- Performing Arts in the community
- Choreography
- Storytelling
Details
This course brings performance to life, and you�ll be honing your skills in hands-on engaging lessons. You�ll build confidence and stage presence, and our specialist teaching staff and external experts will help you to develop your talents. Throughout your time at SPA, you�ll showcase your skills in a variety of performances, from drama to dance recitals.
How will it be delivered?
All assessment will be based on practical assessments and written coursework. Your practical coursework will be a combination of performance work, assessed techniques classes, choreography tasks and collaborative team-work. Your written coursework will be a combination of research tasks, reports, and evaluations.
Entry requirements
5 GCSE grades 5 or above including maths and English. Sheffield South East VI Form may consider students with GCSE grade 4s on an individual case by case.
