Overview

Build your own full time programme around Music Performance or Music Technology. With a level 2 music qualification at the core and maths and English provided (if you need it), you can pick either a music performance or a music technology based programme - the choice is yours! 

Music Performing Arts includes:

  • Preparing, developing and taking part in a performance, either as a solo performer or in a band.
  • Live Sound and Concert Production
  • Songwriting and Arranging Music
  • Promotion and The Music Industry
  • Coping with anxiety and performance improvement techniques
  • Singing and instrumental training

Music technology units include:

  • Sequencing and sampling
  • Audio recording
  • Dance music production
  • DJ Skills and DJ Technology
  • Studio Recording Techniques

Red Tape Studios has been a professional recording studios and music industry hub since 1986, delivering qualifications run by music industry professionals. Lessons are in small groups and so pupils have much more time with their tutors.

This course is aimed at people who wish to further their education and perhaps go on to further or even higher education or wish to have a career within the music industry.

Ofsted recently designated Red Tape Studios as a grade one excellent in inspection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Details

Performing Arts:
Breathing techniques, stage performance, song writing, music theory, singing training, instrument training, confidence building, performing as a band, live concert production, the music industry, record labels and contracts, promotion, events and gigging.

Music Technology:
Sequencing and creating music, sampling and audio editing, digital mixdown and mastering. Dance music techniques, sound effects and virtual synthesiser technology, studio recording techniques, how to become a record producer, microphone techniques, recording live musicians.

How will it be delivered?

Portfolio development, no exams required.

Entry requirements

FREE to 16-18 years old. Not available for 19+ learners.

There are options for full time study for one year or up to three years in our industry standard facilities. We will guide you through regular tutorials and sessions so that you can progress with skills; confidence & experience to level 3 diplomas or stand out from the crowd and get that first step on the employment ladder.
