The programme is made up of 5 key elements; Sports studies, Enrichment, English and Maths, Work experience and Tutorial sessions.
The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in sport contains 7 units of study;
- Sports Coaching
- Plan, deliver and evaluate an activity session
- Lifestyle of a performer
- Work experience
- Participating in Sport
- Developing technical and tactical awareness
- Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition
Enrichment opportunities contain access to the football development programme, additional qualifications and unique experiences. Within this academic year students have the opportunity to access; FA Level 1 Football coaching qualification, National Pool Lifeguard qualification, Level 2 in the development of multi-skills qualification, Manchester City Champions League games, Xscape SNOZONE sessions, USA scholarship programmes & USA coaching opportunities. In addition to these opportunities, students have an unrestricted, full-membership at BFIT gym located only 5 minutes away.
English & Maths will also be delivered alongside your sports studies. Students who achieve a grade 3 in either will resit their GCSE exams with SWFCCP. Students achieving a grade 2 or 1 will study a functional skills qualification allowing them a foundation of knowledge before progressing on.
As part of the course, you will be required to complete work experience in a variety of sports settings as well as performing various roles within the organisation of sports events.
Tutorial sessions are held weekly with students by our personal tutors. These crucial sessions aim to improve the wider development of our students within today's society. Money management, mental health, job searching and application, UCAS/ University and application, are just some of the sessions we hold.
All units are assessed through assignments which are submitted via the interactive learning platform in a variety of formats; these include written reports, posters, practical sports, demonstrations, group tasks, interviews, practical coaching, presentations, work experience, projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments.
Minimum of 4 GCSE between grade 3-1
