The primary outcome of the Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy (QCF) is to confirm your competence as an aromatherapist within the complementary therapy sector. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of an aromatherapist.
The Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as an aromatherapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as an aromatherapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in complementary therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as an aromatherapist including mandatory units covering the following: knowledge and understanding of complementary therapy concepts, business practice, anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies. You will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide aromatherapy services.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and essential oils. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to blend essential oils in a tailor-made fashion for each client and provide relaxing aromatherapy massage treatments using different massage techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.
It is recommended that learners have achieved a level of education equivalent to four GCSE�s at grades A*-C prior to commencing the programme, however, learners should discuss their own circumstances with the College as entry is based on qualification
What could this qualification lead to?
This qualification will confirm your competence for employment as an aromatherapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as an aromatherapist.. Career opportunities as an aromatherapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:
- Working in the NHS in hospitals and care homes
- Working in a commercial complementary therapy clinic, beauty salon or spa
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
