The honours programme is aimed at ambitious and talented students that want to pursue a vocational career. It will give young people the opportunity to be stretched through high quality, rigorous qualifications and to demonstrate their personal best. The programme will provide you with an opportunity to study on a bespoke pathway that will help develop technical and professional accountancy skills, move forward in your finance career as well as achieve supplementary qualifications that attract UCAS points.


You will undertake a range of accountancy units at Levels 2 and 3 including:

  • Bookeeping, Transactions and Controls
  • Using Spreadsheets in Accounting
  • Computerised Accounts (Sage)
  • Management Accounting: Costing
  • Advanced Bookkeeping and Final Accounts Preparation and Indirect Tax

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to work successfully in the finance, business and commercial sector and/or to progress onto higher education. It is made up of three elements, the Professional Accounting Qualifications, Core maths and the Extended Project Qualification.

Year 1: AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2)

Year 2:

  • AAT Advanced Diploma (Level 3)
  • Extended Project Qualification Level 3
  • Core maths

How will it be delivered?

Assessment is through a combination of internal and external methods including computer based examinations throughout the course as well as project work and presentations. There will be a synoptic assessment at the end of AAT Level 2 and Level 3, which assesses the knowledge and understanding of the whole qualification.

Entry requirements

Seven GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including GCSE English and maths at grade 6/B or above

You will be required to attend an interview prior to being enrolled onto the programme and a personal reference will be required

Your next steps...

You could progress onto the Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) or a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4)

You can move into employment within a company, self-employment or further study. Universities and professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) offer exemptions to those who are AAT qualified.
