Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) Units

Audit stock levels and stock inventories in a retail environment

Manage staff to receive goods in a retail

Manage the use of signage and graphics in visual merchandising displays

Evaluate the effectiveness of visual merchandising displays

Contribute to improving a retail organisation?s visual merchandising policy

Help customers to choose specialist products in a retail environment

Produce staffing schedules to help a retail team to achieve its targets

Monitor and support secure payment point use during trading hours

Audit stock levels and stock inventories in a retail environment

Source required goods and services in a retail environment

Monitor and help improve food safety in a retail environment

Manage staff to receive goods in a retail environment

How will it be delivered?

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed both in College and in your place of work.

Entry requirements

You will need to be at least 16 years of age and must either hold four GCSEs at grade A*-C, including GCSE English Grade 4/C or above, or have completed a Level 2 Retail Apprenticeship.

It is desirable that you have English and maths at grade C or above but this is not essential as Functional Skills is delivered as part of the apprenticeship programme.

You need to be employed within a retail setting or have an employer in this area willing to take you on as an apprentice.
