Overview

If you are a speaker of another language and would like to improve your English and maths skills then this is the course for you! As well as English and maths you will also get the chance to study different subjects within College to help you decide on future study or career choices. The course is flexible and we can create an individual learning programme that fits your needs and abilities which will help to develop your skills, knowledge and the confidence necessary to progress onto further study.

Details

You will have the opportunity to;

•Develop your English speaking and listening, reading and writing skills.

•Develop your ability to use maths skills in practical setting

•Choose a vocational option that interests you

•Be involved in cross-college enrichment activities.


There are five components to the course and you will study the following subjects each week:

• ESOL

• Functional skills maths

• Vocational options


You will also have the opportunity to take part in:

• Group tutorials

• Self-Organised Learning Environments (SOLE)

• Enrichment activities

How will it be delivered?

You will be assessed throughout this course.

Entry requirements

•You will need to be between the ages of 16-18 years old

•There are no formal requirements for this course.

•Students will normally take part in an interview prior to being enrolled on the programme.
