Overview

This qualification has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting care routines for babies and young children, supporting the well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles and supporting the needs of babies and young children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The diploma requires 14 mandatory units and mandatory placement experience of 250 hours.

How will it be delivered?

You will be assessed by your tutor and assessor using a range of methods. This will include direct observation in placement, oral questioning, portfolio of evidence, written assignments or tasks.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grades 3 or above, including English and maths or Level 1 Functional skills maths and English

Or successful completion of a Level 1 in a relevant subject plus GCSE English and GCSE maths at grade 3 or functional skills maths and English at Level 1
