Overview

Social issues and trends in Spanish society

Students will study aspects of Spanish-speaking society and will gain an understanding of current trends in Spain and Spanish speaking countries such as the changing nature of family and the impact of technology in everyday life.

Political and artistic culture

Students will study the Artistic culture in the Spanish-speaking world. They will gain knowledge of Spanish-speaking music and festivals alongside an appreciation of the importance of Spanish heritage.

Students will study the benefits of living in an ethnically diverse Spanish-speaking society. They will consider the need to promote diversity to create a richer world and will discuss some political issues concerning immigration, monarchies and dictatorships in Spanish speaking countries.

Grammar

Students will continue to study Spanish grammar to give them the confidence to manipulate the language to speak and write Spanish fluently.

All sections of the course are assessed by examination as outlined below.

Paper 1 Listening, Reading & Writing (40%)

Paper 2 Writing (30%)

Paper 3 Speaking (30%)
