Overview

Site carpentry and joinery focus on the installation of the joinery components, and on the setting out and fabrication of timber elements used in construction. If you want to work in the construction industry and specialise in working with wood then this is the course for you. You will learn the skills and techniques required for the carpentry and joinery trade which focuses on the installation of joinery components and on the setting out and fabrication of timber elements. This course provides a general understanding of theory and develops the practical skills needed to work as a Carpenter or Joiner. This includes hanging doors, fixing architrave and skirting, constructing kitchen and bathroom units and setting out and fixing roofs.

How will it be delivered?

Throughout the study programme your work will be assessed for a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. Achieving this Diploma means that you have reached the standards expected by the industry.

Entry requirements

Three GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English OR successful initial assessment in English and Maths at Entry Level 3 or above.

If you have four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths, you will have the chance to fast-track to year two after successful completion of a six week assessment period.
