Ever wondered about how your favourite media text goes from an idea to being a fully formed product?  If so, this course might be for you.

Details

A level Media Studies is an excellent starting point if you want to learn about a vibrant industry that is one of the largest and most exciting employers in the country.  A selection of carefully chosen case studies from Film, TV, Games, the internet and marketing will illustrate different ideologies and influences in the media industry, developing your skills in understanding and writing about media texts.  It will open up a new world of knowledge for you about how media texts are planned, financed, produced and advertised and ultimately reach their target audience.  You'll even get to create your own Media productions using our state of the art technology that includes a brand new TV studio for 2021/22.

 

A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

Your next steps...

Choose this course if you've ever thought about working in the Media as a presenter, journalist, director, youtuber, blogger or any other aspect of the industry.  Most of our students go on to study in higher education, often choosing Media or other related courses.  Studying A level Media is an excellent way to prepare yourself for any University course and typically leads onto a variety of employment opportunities.  Many of our ex-students choose to find employment directly within the media industry and have worked on productions as diverse as Eastenders, Emmerdale, The Jeremy Kyle Show and with employers such as the BBC, ITV and Sheffield DocFest, some even become teachers.  A massive employer, the Media Industry in the UK is one of the most secure and rewarding areas of employment.
