This course will develop your knowledge and skills in several key areas of Beauty Therapy, from lash and brow treatments to skin care. You'll learn through a combination of practical demonstrations and practice, as well as some theoretical learning.
Functional Skills lessons also form an important part of your course. This will include Maths & English to help you improve your skills in these areas.
You will be asked to purchase a uniform which must be worn at all times when in the salon. You will also need to have some key pieces of equipment that will be discussed when you come to the transition event. Those in financial hardship can apply for help from the college's Learner Support Fund.
You will be expected to complete 15 hours work experience on top of your programme hours.
There will be opportunities to go on trips relevant to the beauty industry. Previous trips include: The Professional Beauty Event in London, The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham and Lancome Paris.
Will this course suit me?
Beauty therapists work in close contact with clients from different age groups and backgrounds. Good social and interpersonal skills, discretion and respect for others are important characteristics. You will also need to have physical stamina as you are often on your feet all day.
VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
The course is assessed entirely by coursework, therefore students need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines. Practical assessments will be carried out in the salon following training and practice.
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English Language.
