Developed in close conjunction with leading employers, BTEC Level 2 Technicals develop transferable workplace skills, such as good communication and the ability to work in a team, which employers have identified as essential for gaining employment in the sector and for progression once the learner is working. At the core of these qualifications is the concept of preparing young people for the working world. Through practical activities and occupationally-fit-for-purpose assessments, learners will gain the skills and behaviours needed for sustainable employment. We have excellent facilities and opportunities for work experience at leading companies. The course features several trips out to companies and visiting speakers will come in and discuss live projects.

This course consists of 6 units delivered in 1 year with a mixture of 4 internally assessed projects and 2 external exams.
You will learn a breadth of skills in both software and systems with more of an emphasis on network related projects.

We also work with local companies on ‘live’ project briefs using real life scenarios you would find in your chosen career.
The Computing Technologies team sit within the Faculty of Engineering, Construction and Computing Technologies and are official academy partners of CISCO, CompTia, Oracle, BCS and Microsoft. The college has developed industry standard facilities including access to the latest software and hardware, including the LEGO Robotics Education Innovation Studio.
Additional Study and Independent Learning
The course will give you an introduction to the mid-level skills you will need to succeed in this career pathway but you are also expected to work independently on further research and assignment work away from the college.
