AQA | Science | AS and A-Level | Biology
The curriculum consists of eight units and twelve practicals:
1. Biological Molecules.
2. Cells.
3. Organisms Exchange Substances with Their Environment.
4. Genetic Information, Variation, and Relationships.
5. Energy Transfers.
6. Responses to Environmental Changes.
7. Genetics, Populations, Evolution, and Ecosystems.
8. Gene Expression Control.
Assessment includes three 2-hour exams
after two years and a practical endorsement
demonstrating laboratory competence.
Entry requirements
The Academy’s general entry criteria of a minimum of five 4s at GCSE applies, including English Language. A minimum of 5 in Biology GCSE (or two grade 5s if you have done double award science at GCSE) and a grade 5 in Maths, is needed to study Biology at A Level.
