Course Summary
BTEC Information Technology (IT) is designed for those who are interested in the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information alongside other areas of study. Students will develop a common core of IT knowledge and study areas such as the relationship between hardware and software that form an IT system, managing and processing data to support business and using IT to communicate and share information.
Throughout the course students investigate the role of people and technology in organisations with a particular focus on the role of social media, the way in which it can be used and the potential pitfalls when using it for business purposes. Students will also design, create, test and evaluate a relational database solution and also build a website for a particular user need. Students will learn how the exciting, modern world of IT is constantly changing and helping individuals and society as a whole, through this practical and vocational course.

Entry requirements
