Course Summary

The course will give you the opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of IT. Whilst there is a focus on the use of data, you will also consider the importance of hardware, software, security, networks, and meeting legal requirements when gathering, storing, processing and presenting data. You will develop your powers of analysis, planning and presenting solutions to meet the requirements of case study businesses. You will also develop your general IT skills by using a variety of different software packages, accessing resources, transferring files, etc. The specific knowledge gained and the transferrable skills you develop will put you in a strong position in any place of work but, for those with ambitions directly related to IT, the course can lead you into further study of IT or computing at university, an apprenticeship working within the IT industry or even directly into employment in the IT industry. The college has strong links with local employers and apprenticeship providers so is regularly sent opportunities suitable for IT students on completion of their courses.
