Course Summary
QUALITAS Football & Education Programme
The Qualitas Post 16 Programme is Unique, bespoke and stand alone due the fantastic enrichment and coaching opportunities for learners/ players.
Studying BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development (equivalent to 3 A levels) - this two-year course is suitable for post-16 students of all playing abilities who have a keen interest in developing an insight into the sport industry. The purpose built classroom is based at Places for Leisure Graves. All learners will have access to a swimming pool, fitness suite and a spinning studio. These can be used for fitness/ conditioning/ recovery sessions for all players, tailored to the individual needs of each learner.
Alongside the academic studies, where 15 sports related units will be covered, students will train at least 3 times a week and play on a weekly basis, at St George’s Park Graves. All players will be following a full time coaching module delivered by UEFA qualified coaches with experience and contacts in professional and semi-professional football. Players will represent Qualitas in the Regional College League & against Category 2 & 3 Academy professional clubs in fixtures, adding to the exciting opportunities and experiences of this course.

The Enrichment side of the Programme is unique and unparalleled for a programme of this type. We feel passionately that for a study programme to be successful, learners need access to high quality work placements, as well as an excellent learning environment. Leadership opportunities are available through our 'school games' program. This allows learners the opportunity to be involved in leading more than 50 sporting events spanning across 20 sports, ranging from Football and Netball to Water Polo and Fencing. This unique model is 'AHEAD OF MANY AT SIMILAR AGE' simply because of the enrichment opportunities to gain qualifications and become EMPLOYABLE in the sporting/leisure sector.
Qualitas are passionate about enhancing students’ employability skills, which is why students have access to work experience within Qualitas. There is also the possibility of paid employment with Qualitas Sport, this can range from swim teaching and refereeing to delivering sport/PE in schools. We also have a shared working partnership with Places for People who could also offer paid work, this can range from lifeguarding to fitness instructing.
These enrichment and employment opportunities will provide all learners the chance to develop life skills and coaching experience. Our best coaches started off at 16/17 years of age, shadowing sessions; building communication, confidence, adaptability, organisation and interpersonal skills.
Course Details
BTEC Level 3 Extended National Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development. Equivalent to 3 A levels.
Minimum of 12 hours of education per week
Full time football coaching modules - Modules of work and training.
Three training sessions per week - Weekly fixtures including against professional Category 2 & 3 academy teams.
Strength & conditioning, analysis and recovery sessions included.
Practical training sessions led by ‘UEFA’ qualified coaches
How will it be delivered and assessed?
No Exams
All work is coursework and regularly assessed to provide feedback. Students can achieve a ‘pass’ ‘merit’ ‘distinction’ in all subject areas.
Entry requirements
A minimum of five 9-4 (A*-C) grades at GCSE, including English and maths (or equivalent)
A keen interest towards playing regular football. Following a full time module of work and training.
A interest in attending higher education courses at university.
Interest in working in the Sport/Lesiure sector.
A commitment to follow high standards and expectations in a professional environment.
