Childcare: Introduction to Children’s and Young People’s Settings Level 1 (FCHD)

This course helps you understand different jobs in this field and the skills you need to grow in the future.

To get the qualification, you will need to:

• Attend meetings or study sessions with the course advisor, tutor, or assessor
• Do personal study like reading on your own and completing assignments

The main topics covered are:

• Learning experiences with young children
• How young children grow and develop
• Healthy living

Please note, this course is ran by the Childcare and Health Department. When you are invited to attend an interview this will be with staff from either the Childcare or the Healthcare department.

To achieve the unit you must provide evidence to meet all of the assessment criteria. CACHE Learner Achievement Log records your progress in achieving the assessment criteria and completing the units.

Three GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and a positive school report.or a full qualification in a relevant subject at Entry Level and Level 1 functional skills in English and Maths.

You will require a positive reference from school and to be able to provide evidence of previous work experience in a related area.

You will normally take part in an interview prior to being enrolled on the programme.

On completion of this programme, you could apply for further training on a Level 2 childcare course or an apprenticeship programme.
