Course Summary

Economics underpins our lives – from questions such as “Can we afford a free NHS?”, to “How come some business owners earn million pound bonuses?” An interest in current affairs is essential, together with a willingness to learn and apply economic models and ideas to a variety of contexts.

What will I be studying?

Theme 1: introduction to markets and market failure

Theme 2: The UK Economy: Performance and Policies

Theme 3: Business Behaviour and the labour market

Theme 4: A Global Perspective

Year 12: One paper on microeconomics and one paper on macroeconomics

Year 13: Three papers of two hours: Paper 1 (micro), Paper 2 (macro) and Paper 3 (micro & macro)
