Course Summary
This course would suit students with a passion for literature from the 1600s to the present day.
Course Details
Our A Level English Literature qualification encourages students to develop their interest in and enjoyment of a broad range of English literature. They apply their knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation to engage critically and creatively with texts including works by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Duffy and Atwood.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
There is a coursework portfolio consisting of a comparative essay and close analysis worth 20% of your final grade. The other 20% is from two examinations with close analysis and comparative essays on each paper.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs with GCSE English literature at least a grade 6.

English literature is a very well respected A’ level which is a great foundation for many degrees including English, law and journalism. The qualification can lead to many jobs including law, teaching, editing, journalism, content manager and anything where written and verbal communication is paramount.
