Course Summary
This is a one year full time course.
About the course
This is an intensive English programme with personal tutor support. You will learn about English speaking and listening, reading and writing.
Your programme can also include learning about citizenship, personal and social development, maths, IT and the world of work. There may be the opportunity for some students to study science and for some students to study for an employability skills qualification.
Course enrichment activities can include trips and visits around the Sheffield area.
Staff and Facilities
Our staff are supportive, friendly, highly qualified and experienced in working with young learners recently arrived in the UK or with those who have little previous experience of English language learning. The course is classroom based, working in small groups.

This course suits young people recently arrived in the UK or who have little previous experience of English language learning and who want to improve their qualifications to go onto further study or work.
Qualification Title
Trinity College London Certificate in ESOL at Entry Level or Level 1. You will also study for a maths qualification.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The Trinity English Certificate is assessed by exam. Students are examined separately for Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing. Students must successfully complete all three parts to progress onto the next level.
Entry requirements
16-18 year old students only. You will be asked to attend an English assessment at college to help decide which level of study is right for you.

Where can it lead?
Students normally progress through the ESOL programme to achieve a higher level of English language skill. Students achieving a full ESOL certificate at entry level 3 or level 1 may also have the opportunity to progress on to a vocational course at either Hillsborough College, Peaks College or Sheffield City College.
