Course Summary
Students who have previously completed a GCSE qualification in French who are keen to explore France and French speaking countries further would enjoy this course.
Course Details
This qualification offers a suitable progression route from GCSE, focusing on the development of all four language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Grammar and the mastering of linguistic features are key elements of this qualification as is the inclusion of authentic written and spoken sources, responding through writing to literature and film, and independent research.
Students are expected to be able to develop knowledge and understanding of the social issues and trends and political and artistic culture of the target language country and communities. They should be able to express and justify their own opinions, develop arguments, and persuade, in speech and writing, building on the fluency and spontaneity developed at Key Stages 3 and 4.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Paper 1 – 40% - Listening, Reading and translation into English.
Paper 2 – 30 % - Written response to works and translation into French.
Paper 3 – 30% - Speaking.
