Students who are also studying A Level Mathematics that want to continue to study maths or the sciences or work in a career where maths plays a major part, for example engineering.

Students study two of these options, decided by the teacher.

• Optional application 1 – mechanics

• Optional application 2 – statistics

• Optional application 3 – discrete mathematics

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This qualification is assessed by examination consisting of three papers. Two are pure maths paper, the other is based on the two applied units covered in the course. A calculator is expected to be used.

Entry requirements

A grade 8 or better and to be also studying A Level Maths

This A level will enable you to continue studying maths, the sciences or engineering amongst others. It will also be advantageous to have this A Level for any career which uses a maths or problem solving base.
