Course Summary
All post 16 pupils, preferably following on from a successful GCSE Geography course
Course Details
You will learn to understand the global environment around you and your place with an everchanging world.
This is split between Physical Geography, such as Water and Carbon Cycles, Coastal environments, and Natural Hazards. Along with Human geography including Changing places, Global governance and systems along with Contemporary urban environments.
You will also be asked to complete a non-examined assessment of a piece of geographical field study. This will be on a topic of your choice from the course and will be conducted following our 4 days of fieldwork.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be regularly assessed, both formally and informally.
A range of informal assessments include, detailed questioning, creating and delivering presentations, quizzes and tests.
Formal assessments will be made within each topic and will cover both the content of the topic and the structure required to be successful in the final examinations. This will culminate in formal Pre-Publication Examinations, conducted in exam conditions and environments. This be in both years of the course. This will help to prepare you for the final A Level assessments
Entry requirements
Grade 5 or above in Geography, English and Maths.
