Level 2 - NVQ Diploma in Barbering - Study Programme

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in;

• the creative art of cutting men’s hair
• the specialist work of cutting facial hair
• how to offer a good consultation service for clients

It is now recommended that practicing barbers register as a State Registered Graduate Barber (SRGB) with The Hair Council in order to enhance their business growth opportunities. This course will allow you to do just that.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry.

You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to advise and consult, and provide a range of cutting and barbering services specifically for men's hair, which includes shaving and creating facial hair shapes.

In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.

Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, learners may choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by completing an advanced apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in barbering, these include:
