Course Summary
The care sector is one of the biggest and most important industries in the UK.Job opportunities are vast, varied and very much in-demand; you could go on to become a Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner, Social Worker, Support Worker, Midwife, Carer or Counsellor. Our nationally recognised qualifications provide you with sought-after, transferable skills for a successful career to begin your journey in the health and social care sector.Our courses are ideal for those who have a true passion for caring for others.
You’ll learn key skills from our supportive tutors who have many years of experience working in the health and social care sector. At Rotherham College we have a fully-equipped hospital ward which we use to recreate real life situations in order to develop your skill set. Practical sessions include a range of different aspects, along with theory to support and develop your knowledge further, giving you a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities within the career pathway you have chosen. We have a wealth of experience in Science to support learners who may want to take a different pathway into the world of laboratory work, research, investigative studies, and areas such as Radiography, Pharmacy, Radiotherapy and Physiotherapy.

Within Health and Social Care, we are now offering the T Level in Nursing route for learners to progress onto.

Assessment methods include coursework and exams along with work experience to gain further experience and develop transferable skills.
The Progression course will help you to develop a wide range of interpersonal and study skills to support your progress to higher levels of study or employment.You will study a range of units based within vocation related subjects that will help you to further develop and apply numeracy and literacy skills, and also demonstrate work-related skills such as organisation, working to deadlines, presentation and communication skills, we will also support you to explore and apply for the next steps in your progression. Assessment is ongoing via coursework related written assessments, presentations and questions. You will be required to study English and Maths alongside your Progression course.
