Practical Microbiology and Infectious Disease: This unit is internally assessed as written reports. It is broken down into 4 sections A-D. This will be completed in Y12 in the Spring and Summer terms.
The optional unit 4: This unit will be carried out in Y13 in the Spring and Summer terms. The unit content could be on diseases and disorders or biomedical science.
As well as learning a detailed base of Biology, you will learn a variety of laboratory techniques and skills in microbiology and aseptic technique to a high standard. You will also learn how to process and analyse data and improve method and technique. You will learn how to research, reference and write reports.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
There are a variety of assessment methods including; examinations, written coursework and practical experiments. You will be assessed throughout the years with assignments that must be completed and passed. For the AAQ every piece of work is marked on its own merits and that mark will affect your final grade.
