Course Summary

You will complete an industry placement and study a core component followed by an occupational specialism in your second year.

Course Details

Core Component

You will build knowledge and underpin concepts, theories and principles along with key skills for the education and early years sector. You will study the following elements:

  • Wider Education Sector
  • Supporting Education
  • Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity and Well-being
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Child Development
  • Working in Partnership
  • Professional Practice

Occupational Specialism Pathway - Early Years Educator

You will study the following:

  • Play, Development and Early Education
  • Relationships Supporting Development
  • Plan, Provide and Review Care, Play and Educational Opportunities
  • Safeguard and Promote Health, Safety and Well-being
  • Working in Partnership to Support Children's Development

Industry Placement

You will complete 750 hours of industry placement across the 2 year course to develop the occupational competency. Completion of this is mandatory and will provide you with a license to practice with young children.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Year 1: Core Component

Employer set project
Written examination

Year 2: Occupational Specialism Component

Several synoptic assignments which include practical observations within your placement setting.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs (including English and Maths) at grade 4 or above.

Your next steps...

Successful completion of the T-Level course is equivalent to 3 A Levels providing progression to university or a degree level apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may choose to enter skilled employment directly into the early years sector as an early years educator or teaching assistant.
