Plumbing Level 1

This is 1 year full time course.

About the course

This course would suit you if you want to learn the basic skills and knowledge involved in plumbing.

During the course you will have the opportunity to learn about the structure of the construction industry and how to work safely in the workplace. You will learn about site preparation and environmental and sustainability measures. Basic plumbing skills will be covered such as above ground drainage, copper pipework, plastic pressure pipework and low carbon steel pipework. You will develop skills in installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.

You will study both in the workshop area and in the classroom.The practical skills and theoretical knowledge you gain from this course will help you to prepare for the level 2 course. The course is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical.

Your progress will be reviewed regularly in tutorial sessions.

You will need to bring your own overalls and safety boots for workshop sessions. All other safety equipment will be provided.

You need to attend regularly and be on time for every lesson.

Functional Skills lessons also form an important part of your course.

They include Maths, English and ICT for you to help you improve your skills in these areas. There will be a formal assessment when you are ready.

Personal Study Time

Students are expected to work independently on project work away from the college.

Qualification Title

Plumbing Studies C&G Level 1 Diploma

There will be a multiple choice test and written assignment work.

4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above including English Language, Maths & Science
