Course Details
Science Level 1
Level 1 Science will give students a baseline knowledge and understanding of biology, chemistry and physics. Completion of this course will prepare students for progression to level 2.
Science Level 2
Level 2 Science is an interesting, diverse and stimulating qualification in which you’ll learn about biology, chemistry and physics. You will develop your knowledge and practical skills in Applied Science – this can help you to thrive in your future studies or the world of work.
Science Level 3
Science Alternative Academic Qualifications at The Sheffield College are a new Level 3 qualifications designed for students aiming to progress to university. They provide a balanced approach to learning by combining theoretical knowledge from subjects like biology, chemistry, and physics with practical, hands-on skills through coursework and laboratory work.
T Level in Science
T Level Laboratory Science at The Sheffield College is a dynamic, career-focused qualification that blends rigorous scientific theory with extensive, hands-on industry experience. It’s designed to ignite your passion for discovery by directly applying classroom knowledge to real-world laboratory challenges, preparing you to become a next-generation scientist and/or go on to Higher Education.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Science Level 1
This course is assessed solely through coursework.
Science Level 2
This course is assessed through a mixture of coursework and written examinations.
Science Level 3
This course is assessed through a mixture of coursework and written examinations.
T Level in Science
This course is assessed through a mixture of coursework and written examinations. Students will also be expected to complete a minimum of 315 placement hours
Entry requirements
Science Level 1 - 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above to include English Language
Science Level 2 - 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above to include English Language or Maths and Science
Science Level 3 - 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English Language, Maths and Double Science
T Level in Science - 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English Language, Maths and Double Science
