Course Details

Sport Level 1

The course is aimed at young people who have a keen interest in sport and fitness and would like to pursue a career in sport and active leisure. This course will suit you if you wish to gain knowledge, understanding and the skills for working in sport and leisure in a variety of different roles.

Sport Level 2

This study programme is for students who want to develop their knowledge and understanding of sport. The programme has two distinct pathways. A fitness pathway that emphasises study in this area including health, exercise and anatomy; and a coaching pathway that focuses on coaching, skill development and analysis of sports performance. The programme has both academic and practical elements of study, plus a mandatory work-based experience in sport.

NCFE Fitness Training Level 2 and Personal Instructing Level 3
This course is aimed at young people who have a keen interest in fitness exercise and training and would like to pursue a career in fitness industry. This course will suit you if you wish to gain knowledge, understanding and the skills for working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer.

Sports Coaching Level 3

This is an academic sports course providing a pathway to a range of sport-based degrees at university. Students will study a variety of units such as anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, skill acquisition, sports coaching and leadership. The course comprises both classroom and practical, sport-based learning and features various assessment methods that will prepare you for further academic study.

Sports and Exercise Science Level 3

This study programme allows students to develop a well-rounded understanding of sport and exercise science by studying a variety of topics, including anatomy and physiology, sports psychology and nutrition. This course is ideal for people interested in going on to careers in Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy, Physiotherapy and other related Higher Education courses.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Sport Level 1

The course is assessed through a variety of different assignments. Each assignment is marked by your unit tutor, and you need to gain a pass in each unit to successfully complete the course.

Sport Level 2

The Level 2 in Sport uses a range of different methods of assessment including both theoretical and practical. Both pathways are entirely coursework assessed with no externally set exams..

NCFE Fitness Training Level 2 and Personal Instructing Level 3

The course is assessed through a variety of different methods including course work and practical assessments in resistance training, aerobic training and group fitness sessions.

Sports Coaching Level 3

The course is assessed through a variety of different methods including course work and practical assessments in resistance training, aerobic training and group fitness sessions.

Sports and Exercise Science Level 3

The course is assessed through a variety of different methods including course work and practical assessments in resistance training, aerobic training and group fitness sessions.

4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above to include English Language
