Come to nacro and learn in our excellent premises, and using the on-site gym (Sheffield only) and other local facilities.

Our course is the City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Sport and it focuses on things such as:

  • Improving your own personal fitness
  • Leading a healthy lifestyle
  • Participating in sport
  • Working opportunities in sport and active leisure
  • Planning, delivery and evaluation of sporting activities
  • And much more...

Besides learning about healthy living and fitness, you will also benefit from sessions in:

  • Basic skills
    - English & Maths
  • Personal and social development skills -
    - confidence building, communication, interaction etc

We have addtional leisure activities, including the chance to play football, experience other sports and get fit in addition to career and job search workshops.

Course Details

Sport Level 1 Physical Activity - If you’re interested in a career in instructing or fitness, our qualification will give you the skills and hands-on experience you need to move on to employment or further training.


Lots of units make up the qualification - each looking at different areas of sport:

  • The course includes: • Nutrition/diet • Healthy lifestyle • Sports injuries • Anatomy and physiology • Disabilities and sport • Running a business in sport and leisure • Protecting children and young people in sport • Team working and social skills • Work experience

During the course you will participate in a variety of activities - all related to the course.

Added to all this is the chance to improve your English and Maths, improve confidence, communication skills and so on.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is mainly through completion of evidence books and worksheets throughout the course, to build your own portfolio

Your trainer will keep you informed of your progress and will make written statements to support your work

Entry requirements

You only need a willingness to learn - no previous experience is needed
