What makes us different?

Our vision at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy park that of our students leave us to positive destinations including higher and degree apprenticeships as well as competitive university places, equipped with the skills to excel. We aim to be the main talent pipeline for the next generation of technicians, engineers, designers, healthcare, well-being and exercise professionals and innovators.     The curriculum at the UTC has been designed in collaboration with industry, healthcare providers, universities and professional elite sport organisations. The curriculum is both broad and balanced whilst being focused on the needs of our specialist sectors. It holds the students at its heart.

Traditional schools have often focused solely on academic attainment which does not always align with what employers and the industry needs.  Our aim is to be an outstanding provider of both academic and technical education so that our students can achieve fantastic destinations within the industries and specialisms that we support: Health Science and Social Care, Computing and Sport Science.  To help us achieve this aim, we have very strong backing from our employer partners including the NHS, Professional sports bodies, Razor and Sumo Digital. We also benefit from the support of our higher education partner, Sheffield Hallam University, and our other key sponsors, Sheffield College and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

We provide a blend of academic and technical learning, with balance appropriate to each Key Stage. The curriculum builds the vital employability skills, personal values and professional behaviours required for rapid progression into the target technical sectors. Students’ learning is enriched and stretched by regular exposure to the work with employers and universities. The overall quality of education in a UTC is shown by the ambitious progression and destinations secured by its leavers
