High Storrs has a thriving, successful Sixth Form. Judged as 'Oustanding' by Ofsted (Nov 2013), we are committed to providing the highest standard of education and a positive and motivating learning environment for all students.
We offer a learning environment which is second to none, including modern study spaces, specialist classrooms and state of the art performance spaces. It is the perfect environment to deepen your study of subjects you studied at GCSE or to embark upon new courses.
The Sixth Form has a uniquely supportive ethos. Students are stretched and challenged, but in a positive way, catering for individual needs and abilities. We believe that every student can, and should, achieve success. We work closely with parents if concerns arise and when particular praise is deserved.
But there is much more to Sixth Form life than academic achievement. Students enjoy all the opportunities of a well-resourced school, with a full package of extra curricular activities. We also prepare students for higher education, employment or further training, so they can play a full and responsible role in the community. Our committed and talented staff foster and develop high aspirations, helpfing nurture our students to achieve their goals.

Guidance and support
Our guidance and support programme is vitally important in helping to fulfil your potential in Sixth Form education. You develop a close partnership with your form tutor and subject teachers. Regular academic tutoring assesses your strengths and weaknesses and provides strategies to help you improve.
Regular academic trackers, annual reports and parents' evenings strengthen links between staff, students and parents. Our dedicated Student Support Assistants deal with day-to-day problems and help with all aspects of your learning. All Sixth Form students can access careers advice as required and we have a comprehensive Higher Education programme to prepare students for applications to University or other institutions. Bespoke support is also available for students applying to Oxbridge.
Our aim is for you to develop as well-rounded, knowledgeable and flexible adults. The work side of Sixth Form life is of prime importance, but all of our students rate the enrichment activities a close second.
Students will be involved with a range of enrichment opportunities in our skills sessions to further develop their independence skills to prepare for life beyond Sixth Form.
One afternoon a week is reserved for enrichment activities, including sport, with teams competing locally, regionally and nationally. Drama and music engage a large number of Sixth Form students. Ensembles range from a samba band to a chamber orchestra. There are numerous choirs and rock bands and budding performers are able to audition for plays, dance performances and operas performed in school and at the Crucible Theatre.
Many departments promote industry and business challenges and students participate in interschool competitions locally and nationally. We also have strong links with universities, who offer a range of outreach programmes to stretch and challenge students further. Students involve themselves in social action projects and voluntary work in the wider community, donating their time and raising thousands of pounds for charitable causes.
Travel and learn
Each year our students have the opportunity to work in or visit European countries. Fieldwork and study weekends are an integral part of many courses and most subjects organise external lectures and visits to enhance learning.
It's not all work!
One of the main duties of the peer-elected Head Team is to organise the social life of the Sixth Form. A welcome party is held early in the Sixth Form and various events are scheduled throughout the year culminating in the final celebration, the Sixth Form Prom. We were recently affiliated with the NUS which brings many benefits to the sixth form students at High Storrs.
