Course Summary
A Level Economics helps students understand how the world around them works, from the cost of living and government decisions to business behaviour and global trade. The course develops strong analytical, numerical and evaluative skills, making it highly valued by universities and employers.
Course Details
Introduction to Markets and Market Failure: how markets work, why they sometimes fail, and the role of government.
The UK Economy: Performance and Policies, economic growth, unemployment, inflation, trade and government policy decisions.
Business Behaviour and the Labour Market: how firms operate, competition, labour markets, wages and productivity.
A Global Perspective: international trade, development economics, globalisation, and emerging economies.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Three external examinations at the end of Year 13.
Entry requirements
Prospective students will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 including English and Mathematics.
It is desirable that applicants achieve a grade 6 in Mathematics.
